Our Seniors Directory provides information about facilities and activities for seniors in the Newcastle and Hunter community. 

This directory aims to provide Newcastle community members contact with a variety of community groups to join or volunteer with or undertake the occasional activity. 

This year the directory features over 80 Newcastle and Hunter based clubs and services.

Commonwealth Home Support Program

Commonwealth Home Support Program offers a variety of entry-level support services to benefit older people and carers to stay independent and live in their community longer.
Assessment and referral for domestic assistance and community care for people living in will be completed by My Aged Care. My Aged Care can be contacted at: 1800 200 422 or
Residents may be eligible for assistance with:
  • Domestic assistance (household chores)
  • Personal care
  • Centre-based day care
  • Meals and other food services
  • Respite care (short breaks)
  • Case management
  • Home maintenance and modification
  • Formal linen service
  • Nursing care (health and personal care)
  • Transport
  • Counselling/support, information
  • Advocacy (for clients and carers).
