The role of the Principal Certifier (PC) is to oversee building work in accordance with the development consent and relevant building regulations. The PC is the only person who can issue an Occupation Certificate.
This role can be performed by either Council or a Private Certifier.
In most cases for subdivision works the PC can only be Council.
This form gives notice to Newcastle Council of the appointment of the Principal Certifier and the proposed date of commencement of work. A minimum of 2 days notice before building or subdivisions work commences is required.
