Resident Visitor Parking Authority Permit Application

Resident visitor parking is offered to provide friends or relatives who visit residents living within a residential parking precinct the option to park with the same freedoms of a resident parking permit.

Who is eligible to apply for a permit?

Applicant must provide proof of residency to be eligible to apply for a resident visitor parking permit. Permits are available for all precincts. Only one visitor permit can be issued per household.

If you are lodging your application by mail you must include payment (cheque or money order made out to City of Newcastle, credit card payments will be taken over the phone after application and documentation has been received). You must also supply copies of all required documents. Do not mail original documents.

If you are lodging your application by fax a customer service officer will contact you via phone to take credit card payment.

What documentation will I need to provide to accompany the application?

In order to issue a Resident Visitor Parking Permit, City of Newcastle needs to view sufficient evidence that establishes the applicant resides at the premises. The most appropriate manner to do this is to present two of the following with the applicants name and the nominated address. Drivers Licence, Utility Bills, Rates Notice, Tenancy Agreement or Registration Papers.

Is it resident visitor parking permit transferrable?

The visitor permit can be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, however, the permit always remains the property of the address shown on the permit.

What is the duration of parking?

Permit holders can park in the street of the specified precinct for an unlimited period. Free of charge.

Are there any limitations of where I can park?

It is important to note the permit allows the holder to unrestricted parking only within the zone of the nominated precinct.

A resident or resident visitor parking permit does not exempt your vehicle from general road signs unless they contain the words 'permit holder excepted' or 'authorised residents vehicles excepted' and the corresponding precinct number to that shown on your permit.
