East End road works

22 Sep 2017

Planning a trip into Newcastle city centre from Sunday 24 September to Thursday 28 September? A bunch of roads are getting asphalted, here is what you need to know.

Sunday 24 September: Horseshoe Beach access road north of Wharf Road closed. This includes Horseshoe Beach car park and both Nobbys Beach car parks.

You will still be able to access Horseshoe Beach on foot via the Bathers Way. There are plenty of other off leash areas to take your pooch, find out what they are here.

Monday 25 September: Wharf Road from Watt Street roundabout to Nobbys Road roundabout closed, Watt Street between Scott Street and Wharf Road closed. Local traffic only from Worth Place to Queens Wharf.

Want to go to the beach? Head for the Bar to Merewether Beach stretch. Getting to Nobbys and Newcastle Beaches and Newcastle Ocean Baths will be difficult, it would be best to avoid these areas.

Tuesday 26 September: Shortland Esplanade/Church Street intersection closed. Traffic diversion down Newcomen Street.

Wednesday 27 September: Church/Watt Street intersection closed. Ocean St, Zaara Street, and Shortland Esplanade from Watt St to Zaara Street closed.

Thursday 28 September: Watt/Wharf roundabout closed, including all approaches.
