Cycle / Pedestrian / Visitor Counts and other Benefits

Increase usage

  • Since the initial Merewether Beach Public Domain Improvements have been completed (between 2012-2014) there has been an increase in pedestrian movement by 36%.

Safer pedestrian and vehicular environment

  • The average speed in John Parade has been reduced from 36km per hour to 26km per hour.  The volume of traffic in John Parade has been reduced from 4000 vehicles per day to 1500 vehicles per day.

Dixon Park

Bar Beach

  • Shared pathway at Bar Beach from Cooks Hill Surf Club to the car park
