Merewether - Frederick Street road and drainage renewal

Page hero image Council is renewing the road and drainage infrastructure in Frederick St, Merewether, between Berner St and Patrick St. This project completes the renewal of Frederick St from Scenic Dr to Patrick St.

Stages

Stage 1 of the road and drainage renewal, from Berner St to Robert St, is almost complete. We have renewed the drainage and relocated the watermain from the Frederick St roadway to the western footpath area from Robert St to Patrick St.

Stage 2 is on track to start in August 2018 and work will continue for approximately 18 months. Stage 2 is from Robert St to Watkins St and will connect to the Patrick St intersection work.

The project includes a new footpath, improved roads and drainage, realignment of the Frederick St and Helen St intersection and an avenue planting of Coastal Banksia (Banksia integrifolia), as selected by residents.

What to expect

There will be some disruptions to parking and traffic throughout the project. We will need to close the road between Patrick St and
Helen St for up to six months from August 2018 to allow it to be rebuilt. We will provide resident access via Patrick St during this time and keep them informed of any other closures throughout the project. See our road closures page for updates.

Access to driveways and on-street parking will be restricted at times however the footpath will remain open. Traffic controllers will be onsite during work hours from 7.30am to 3pm to help residents navigate through the work zone. Our civil works crew will also liaise directly with residents about driveway reconstructions to minimise disruptions.
