Landcare

Landcare volunteers play an important role in helping conserve and enhance our coastal and bushland environments by undertaking a variety of natural resource management activities including bush regeneration, dune stabilisation, mulching, collection and propagation of seed of indigenous plants for Landcare sites, planting and recording of location flora and fauna. 

City of Newcastle Landcare Volunteers receive:

• The opportunity to join a group that provides members the ability to be more physically active, experience camaraderie, meet new friends and neighbours, and the sense of achievement while contributing to the protection and enhancement of urban bushland.
• Free training and guidance from City of Newcastle officers
• Resources such as tools and plants, mulch and signage
• Safety gear and insurance whilst working on council land
• A BBQ training and social event each year to celebrate volunteering and achievements 

City of Newcastle and the Hunter Region Landcare Network have formed an alliance to help support Landcare volunteers and groups in natural resource management activities like bush regeneration, dune rehabilitation, seed collection and plant revegetation. 

The Hunter Regions Landcare Network helps fund opportunities, workshops, collaborative projects and social gatherings for Landcare volunteers.
