This permit allows the permit holder to park for longer than the signposted parking restrictions on the roadway (ie. 15 Minute, 1 hour, 2 hour, Loading Zone, etc) within the Newcastle LGA.
On-street (temporary) parking permits are useful for the following purposes:
- Building/office maintenance works
- Extended loading and unloading activity
- Renovation works
- Events - bus/coach parking
- VIP's visit - to reserve space in advance
- Small charity fundraising event
- Weddings - to reserve space in advance
- Filming
- Removalist vans
- Placement of skip bins (with Bulk Waste Container permit).
You cannot request a permit to park in a No Stopping or No Parking zone.
Please note the issue of a permit does not guarantee availability of on-street parking spaces for the required day. You may need to reserve the parking spaces by the placement of traffic cones or by arranging with businesses/clients on the day.

What happens next
ASSESSMENT - The application is given a reference number and assigned to a traffic engineer for assessment.
PAYMENT - A request for payment will then be issued. Payment is made online via Bpoint. Please ensure you keep a copy of the payment receipt for your records. The Traffic Team will automatically receive a copy of your payment receipt from Bpoint.
PERMIT ISSUED - Once payment is received your permit will be issued. A copy of the permit must be made available at any time for CN Officer/Ranger perusal, or penalties may apply.
Can I change the date of my permit?
Yes. If you need to change the date of your permit you must inform us by email to traffic@ncc.nsw.gov.au before 9am of the date the permit is due to start.
There is no fee for changing the date of a permit where we have been advised prior to the start date/time of the original permit, and if the purpose of the permit remains the same.
Can I extend my permit?
Yes. If you need to extend an existing permit you must contact us by email (traffic@ncc.nsw.gov.au) before your current permit expires. Further fees will apply to an extension request for the loss of parking spaces.
