As part of the CN Strategic Sports Plan (SSP) 2020, a number of recommendations were made relating to Adamstown Park including developing a masterplan to guide the future vision and renewal of infrastructure over the next 10-15 years.

Specific recommendations from the SSP included: improvements to the field layout, drainage, irrigation, lighting layout, playing surfaces, upgrades to amenities for football and cricket, and ensuring infrastructure at Adamstown No.1 sportsground complies with NPL standards.

Stage 1 Works

Broadmeadow Magic Junior Football Club has been successful in receiving $1 million in grant funding for Stage 1 works under the Greater Cities and Regional Sport Facility Fund 2021/22. Stage 1 works will commence in February 2023 and be completed by mid-2023. View the concept plan here.

Stage 1 works being carried out with grant funding at Myers Park include:
  • Relocation of flood light pole and LED upgrade
  • Realignment and drainage works to Myers No.1 and 2;
  • Fitness stations with water stations;
  • Covered tiered seating adjacent to Myers Park No.1;
  • 2 active courts;
  • Fencing around Myers Park; and
  • Perimeter running track.

*Note: Stage 1 works have been slightly amended following detailed design and a review of submissions received during public exhibition of the Adamstown Park Masterplan. This includes alignment of the footpath to improve amenity as well as avoiding trees and existing services. The multipurpose court has also been split into 2 to provide one bat ball court and 1 half basketball court.

Stage 1 works relate to a successful grant application prepared by Broadmeadow Magic Junior Football Club under the Greater Cities and Regional Sport Facility Fund 2021/22. These works are required to be completed this financial year to meet grant funding requirements.

The draft Adamstown Park Sports Masterplan has been prepared in line with CN's Strategic Sports Plan (SSP), key sporting user groups and these grant funding works.

Stage 1 works have been slightly amended following detailed design and a review of submissions received during the Masterplan process. This includes realignment of the footpath to improve amenity and avoid trees and existing services. The multi-purpose active court has also been split into 2 to provide one bat ball court and 1 half basketball court.

Works will commence in February 2023 and be completed by mid 2023.

The end of the season for cricket will be impacted as a result of the works and CN is working with cricket to arrange alternative arrangements to minimise impact.  The works will not reduce cricket boundary sizes.

There will be no changes to access to facilities. The fencing will have gates with no impact to access to the fields.

The Masterplan aims to guide the future vision and renewal of infrastructure over the next 10-15 years.

Following a review of submissions the masterplan will be finalised and adopted by Council in early 2023.

Adoption of the masterplan will allow CN and key user groups to apply for further funding opportunities and future works to be included in Council capital works program over the life of the masterplan.
