Changes at our facilities

In line with the recent Public Health Order, City of Newcastle’s facilities remain open while abiding by the one person per four square metre rule. The wearing of face masks indoors is mandatory. For more information visit NSW Health.

All visitors to City of Newcastle facilities must use the Service NSW QR code for COVID safe check in.

Blackbutt Reserve

Wildlife exhibits, kiosk, playgrounds, walking trails, open spaces, shelters and barbecues at Blackbutt Reserve are open. Find out more about Blackbutt Reserve.

City Administration - Customer Service

In-person services at 12 Stewart Avenue have resumed with COVID-19 restrictions in place. The Customer Service Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm. Cashless transactions are preferred.

City Hall

Function rooms located within City Hall and the Fort Scratchley Function Centre are available for hire, with COVIDSafe plans in place to ensure the safety of attendees. Find out more about venues to hire.

Civic Theatre

Civic Theatre is open and currently operating in line with Government guidelines. Find out more about the Civic Theatre.

Fort Scratchley

Fort Scratchley is open to the public six days a week, between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free. Tunnel Tour bookings from 1 November. Find out more about Fort Scratchley.

Newcastle Art Gallery

Newcastle Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday with two daily sessions at 10am and 2pm. Each session is for 3 hours duration. Bookings are essential to reserve a spot in one of the daily sessions. Find out more about the Art Gallery.

Newcastle Libraries

Newcastle Libraries is operating a COVID Safe service model, and our library branches are open and ready to welcome you. Find out more about the Newcastle libraries.

Newcastle Museum

Newcastle Museum is open however you’ll need to bring your phone with you on your next visit! Visitors will need to scan in at entry points using a QR code. ​Find out more about the museum.

Visitor Information Centre

The Visitor Information Centre is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. Find out more about the Visitor Information Centre.
