Community and Economic Resilience Support
The City of Newcastle developed a comprehensive community and economic support package designed to help locals through the unprecedented effects of COVID-19.
The package saw $5.5 million invested and included interest free payment plans for rates, rent reductions on council-owned buildings, free online training packages, and community grants programs to support our vulnerable and emerging at-risk community members.
The Hunter Research Foundation Centre was commissioned to evaluate the City of Newcastle's Community and Economic Resilience Package. Their report was completed in March 2021. View the complete Hunter Research Foundation Centre Community and Economic Resilience Package Final Report (PDF).
