Strategic Sports Plan

The Strategic Sports Plan (PDF) was adopted by Council on 8 December 2020. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

Consultation was undertaken with state and local sporting associations and clubs to gather insight on how the sporting facilities are valued and used by the community.

The 10-year plan considers population growth across our City to ensure that we can meet existing and future needs, and provides strategic facility direction for 13 outdoor sports including athletics, Australian rules football, baseball, cricket, croquet, equestrian, football (soccer), netball, rugby league, rugby union, softball, tennis and touch/oztag.

The Engagement Process

As consultant for the development of the Strategic Sports Plan, Otium engaged with local sporting clubs and associations, State Sporting Organisations, neighbouring Councils and government agencies through surveys, workshops and meetings. These stakeholders then provided feedback on the Preliminary Directions Discussions Paper. This feedback was used to inform the draft Plan.

The draft Plan was placed on public exhibition for a period of 42 days, during which 172 submissions were received.
