The new draft Code of Meeting Practice aligns with the Office of Local Government's Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW (Model Meeting Code).

As outlined by the NSW Office of Local Government, The Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW (the Model Meeting Code) is made under section 360 of the Local Government Act 1993 (the Act) and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005 (the Regulation).

The new City of Newcastle draft Code of Meeting Practice aligns with the Office of Local Government's Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW (Model Meeting Code). Supplementary provisions that aim to further advance the open, transparent, and efficient conduct of Council and Committee of Council meetings at CN have also been incorporated.
