Traffic and pedestrian safety improvement project

Pedestrian Crossing Upgrade - Brunker Road

Engagement has been finalised on a proposal to improve pedestrian safety at the existing pedestrian crossing at Brunker Road near Coolah Road, Broadmeadow. The project has been adopted by Council.

Pedestrian Crossing Upgrade - Brunker Road

We sought feedback on a proposal to improve pedestrian safety at the existing pedestrian crossing at Brunker Road near Coolah Road, Broadmeadow. The raised crossing will address issues around speed and safety, especially for children crossing the road. There are sight line issues with the crossing north of Coolah Road, which will be improved by building a raised crossing.

This consultation, which was supported by the Newcastle City Traffic Committee, was undertaken to ensure that the community is informed and has the opportunity to raise any concerns.

What was proposed?

The proposed works included:

  • Upgrading the existing pedestrian crossing on Brunker Road near Coolah Road, to a raised crossing
  • Construction of kerb extensions at the raised crossing
  • Upgrading street lighting
  • New signage and linemarking.

The engagement process has been finalised and the project has been approved by Council.
