    A ‘How To’ package, conducted by The School of Creative Industries Lecturer, Jack McGrath, will be sent to registered schools to take part in this event from their classroom, with a lucky few joining us at Newcastle Library.

    Newcastle Seed Library: borrow, grow, harvest and return! - Find out more

    The Newcastle Seed Library is a new community run initiative of Newcastle Libraries, individual community volunteers and community gardens across the LGA. It is like a regular library, yet for seeds. The Seed Library is free for library members – they are able to take home some seeds, just as they would borrow a book. After growing in their garden, they are encouraged to harvest and return seeds to the Seed Library for others to borrow.

    More for Members: Overdue fines have been waived until 30 June 2021 - Find out more

    As part of the City’s response to COVID-19 overdue fines were suspended for an initial 6 months. However our community is continuing to face challenges so we’ve extended the fee free period to the middle of next year.

    Consumer Price Index - Latest Quarter

    The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the June 2020 quarter. The All Groups CPI fell 1.9% in the June 2020 quarter, compared to a rise of 0.3% in the March 2020 quarter.
