Just Like Jennings! Kids Short Story Competition
Do you love writing? Why not use Paul Jennings’ short stories and novels as inspiration and enter our short story competition! Here’s your challenge:
Write a fictional short story using a small seed of truth from your life. Read these writing tips from Paul Jennings, there are lots of fantastic hints and tricks to make your work stand out! And don’t forget to plan and draft your story!
This competition is for children aged 9 to 13 years, with story entries between 500 and 1000 words in length. The Just Like Jennings! Kids Short Story Competition runs from now until Wednesday 2 December 2020
Make sure you are a member of Newcastle Libraries. If you are not, you can join online here.
Complete the online entry form and include your completed short story. Make sure you include all contact information, consent from your parent or guardian, declaration of ALL MY OWN WORK and upload your story. If you would prefer to lodge a hard copy, you can drop it off at one of our branch libraries. Please include the entry form.

Entries will be shortlisted and reviewed by a judging panel of local authors who will award one winner and one runner up. Winners will receive a Paul Jennings book packs.

Many schools were booked to attend the Paul Jennings: UNREAL! Exhibition and Library led education programs.
