Advisory Committees

Council has established a number of Advisory Committees to provide advice to Council and inform decision making on specific areas in line with the established Committee Charters.

In addition to Council's Advisory Committees there is also an Audit Committee.

Asset Advisory Committee

To provide strategic advice on and guide the development and implementation of asset policy and strategy for The City of Newcastle.

Coastal Revitalisation Consultative Committee

Providing strategic guidance for the implementation of the Coastal Revitalisation Program.

Disability Inclusion Committee

Implementation of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2016-2019 and current and relevant local matters related to disability inclusion in Newcastle.

Environmental Advisory Committee

The Environmental Advisory Committee provides strategic advice and guidance on, and assist in the development of, environmental strategies for Council.

Guraki Aboriginal Advisory Committee

The Guraki Advisory Committee provides strategic advice and guidance with relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, give life to Council’s commitment to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the City of Newcastle.

Newcastle Cycling Advisory Committee

To monitor and assist in implementing the Newcastle Cycling Strategy and Action Plan.

Newcastle Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee

Established to address the requirements of the NSW Floodplain Development Manual.

Newcastle Youth Council Committee

To guide the implementation of youth strategies for Newcastle City Council and to raise awareness of youth issues.

Smart and Innovative Cities Committee

To advise Council on the local, state and national policy objective, and to enhance the City's strategic local and global position to accelerate the objectives and actions of Council's Community Strategic Plan and innovate city goals.

Audit and Risk Committee

The objective of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent assurance and assistance to Council on risk management, control, governance, and legal and regulatory obligations.
