Bathers Way Newcastle Beach

The Bathers Ways Newcastle Beach project will transform the public domain between Newcastle Surf Life Saving Club and King Edward Park, by improving community facilities and renewing severely deteriorated coastal infrastructure.

Carrington - Howden Street stormwater improvements

We're improving the stormwater drainage in Howden Street, Carrington, to reduce ponding and tidal inundation upstream.

Fletcher - Oak Close Reserve stormwater improvements

We're carrying out stormwater improvement work in Oak Close Reserve, Fletcher.

Kotara - Joslin Street pedestrian crossing upgrade

We're upgrading the pedestrian crossing between Bryson Avenue and Rae Crescent, to reduce traffic speed and improve safety.

Pedestrian and traffic improvement projects

Road Rehabilitation and Resurfacing

Road rehabilitation and resurfacing works scheduled for 2018/19.

Adamstown - Glebe Road local centre and traffic improvements

We're undertaking civil works on Glebe Road in preparation for future installation of traffic control signals at Glebe Road and Park Avenue.

Islington - Clyde Street level crossing

We're working with the Australian Rail Track Corporation to implement cycle safety improvements at the Clyde Street railway level crossing.

Civic substation upgrade

The electrical substation in Christie Place, Newcastle, is being upgraded.

Clarke Stand Upgrade - Mitchell Park Merewether

The Clarke Stand at Mitchell Park Merewether will receive a much needed face-lift in the next 12 months with work starting in October 2018.

Hunter Street, Newcastle - Footpath upgrades

We are working with Revitalising Newcastle to improve Hunter Street.

Merewether - Patrick Street road and drainage renewal

We are renewing the road and drainage infrastructure in Patrick Street, Merewether, between Burwood Street and Kilgour Avenue.

Council Street renewal, Cooks Hill

Newcastle City Council is upgrading the drainage in Council Street, Cooks Hill, between Dawson and Darby streets to reduce flood risk to residents, address road safety issues and tree management to reduce interactions with drainage infrastructure.

Cowper Street Bridge Lighting Upgrade

Council has replaced the pedestrian lights on Cowper Street bridge to improve both safety and usability.

Merewether - Frederick Street road and drainage renewal

Council is renewing road and drainage infrastructure in Frederick Street, Merewether, between Berner Street and Patrick Street.

Richmond Vale Rail Trail

The Richmond Vale Rail Trail is proposed to run along the former Richmond Vale rail line between Kurri Kurri and Hexham and along the former Chichester to Newcastle water pipeline between Shortland and Tarro.

Playground replacement program

Each year up to five playgrounds are included in annual asset renewal works program.

Anderson Drive, Tarro - Renewal project

Council is undertaking watermain replacement and relocation, footpath construction and road rehabilitation on Anderson Drive, Tarro.

City Hall Restoration

Council is restoring the western and northern fa├žade of City Hall.

Shepherds Hill Cottage

Restoration work in underway on Shepherds Hill cottage, that has stood watch over the city from atop King Edward Park since the 1890s.

Stewart Park stormwater improvements

Council is undertaking work to improve stormwater surface flows in the Stewart Park (Croudace Road), Elermore Vale area.

Swan Street Cooks Hill Renewal

Council is progressing with plans to rehabilitate Swan Street, Cooks Hill, between Darby Street and Mosbri Crescent, with Stage 1 commencing August 2017.

Nobbys Beach amenities block

We are building a new accessible amenities block at Nobbys Beach.

Carrington Stormwater Cleaning

Council is currently undertaking work to remove debris from pipelines which will ensure maximum pipe flow capacity.

Kotara Park and Park Avenue works

Council is undertaking work at Kotara Park to address current stormwater issues.

Murabarnbah Park Rankin Park

Subsidence Advisory NSW has advised a mine subsidence hole, caused by an old mine entry beneath Murabarnbah Park, has been identified in the playground area. The mine entry does not extend beneath any private properties.
