Explore Blackbutt Reserve

182 hectares of amazing natural bushland, over 10klms of walking trails, free entry to the wildlife exhibits and a variety of flora and fauna.

Reserve a shelter at Carnley or Richley for your next party or event.
Opening hours Experiences What's on

Wildlife exhibits  

Free entry to wildlife exhibits, 10am to 4.30pm daily. Wildlife exhibits are closed on Christmas Day, Good Friday and before 1pm on Anzac Day.

Kiosk

For souvenirs, tea and coffee and information on Blackbutt Reserve the Kiosk is open from 10am - 3pm daily except on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sundays, Good Friday, Anzac Day and Christmas Day.

Picnic facilities

Picnic facilities are open from 7am until 7pm. Shelters, BBQ's and nature walks are available for use between these hours.

Office

Office hours are from 8am to 3pm Monday to Friday, closed on public holidays. 

Private encounters 

Unique opportunity to experience close encounters with our reptiles. During an encounter you will learn about each animal including diets, breeding, habitats and conservation strategies.

Guided tours

An experience with our Australian wildlife in a guided tour through the exhibits. Learn as you see and touch animals during this fun-filled, one hour journey which includes encounters with several reptiles.

Feed the emus

Get up close to the emus!  Purchase a cone of food from the Kiosk and watch as the emus brazenly nibble at the food and cones. 

Activity packs

Purchase an activity pack from the Kiosk and venture on a scavenger hunt at Carnley Avenue to solve the mystery phrase, use the clues to search the picnic area for the animals, also includes a small animal replica.

Walking trails 

Blackbutt has 7 different interesting and challenging walking trails with magnificent scenery and natural features through varying forest types and along creeks.  Trails are signposted at each major intersection.
