Shelter Hire

Carnley Avenue hosts 6 shelters that are available for exclusive hire for your next event. 

The shelters are located in the main reserve area, conveniently placed to be able to enjoy all that Carnley Reserve has to offer!

Hiring a shelter is classified as a 'Small Area Event' according to our Fees and Charges document and is priced at $200.00, which includes a non-refundable administration fee of $150.00.

A second shelter can be added to your booking and will incur an additional $50.00 on top of the initial hire fee. For more details, please refer to the City of Newcastle's Fees and Charges document. 

Please note that our fees and charges are subject to change per financial year. 

Visit our native wildlife exhibit and boardwalk or experience our animals up close and personal through an Animal Encounter. 

Carnley Reserve is also host to an Adventure Playground, duck pond and plenty of green spaces to explore!

Cancellation Policy: Bookings can be cancelled up to 24 hours' prior to the event start time by either logging into your Bookable account, or by emailing blackbuttadmin@ncc.nsw.gov.au. A refund of $50.00 will be applicable for cancellations, provided that 24 hours' notice is supplied.

Rescheduling Policy: Bookings can be rescheduled up to 24 hours' prior to the event start time by either logging into your Bookable account or by emailing blackbuttadmin@ncc.nsw.gov.au. These bookings can be rescheduled to an available date within 3 months of the original booking, provided that 24 hours' notice is supplied.

When you book a shelter with us, you secure exclusive use of your chosen space for your event. Our team will rope off the area on the morning of your event and post signage with your booking details to ensure everything is set and ready for you!

Richley Reserve boasts 10 shelters that are available for hire.

Richley Reserve is also home to our Mega Adventure Playground.
