Lifeguard Patrols

Beaches

All beaches will be patrolled during the summer swimming season from 26 September 2026 until 26 April 2027. Nobbys, Bar and Dixon Park Beach are patrolled all year round.

For your own safety, please swim only when beaches are patrolled.

Beach Lifeguard Patrol Times

Newcastle and Merewether Beach

• 23 March 2026 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 26 September 2026 to 2 November 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 3 November 2026 to 22 March 2027 - 7am to 5.30pm*
  (*Sundays 9am - 5:30pm)
• Closed for Winter Season. Lifeguards will return to this location on 26 September 2026

Stockton Beach

• 27 September 2025 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm
• Closed for Winter Season. Lifeguards will return to this location on 26 September 2026.

Bar, Nobbys and Dixon Park Beach

• 23 March 2026 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 27 April 2026 to 26 September 2026 - 8am to 4.30pm
• 27 September 2026 to 2 November 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm

Surf Lifesaving Clubs

Beaches are patrolled on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays by Surf Lifesaving Clubs for 30 weeks from 27 September 2025 to 26 April 2026.

Ocean Baths

Merewether and Newcastle Ocean Baths are open all year round, subject to maintenance and cleaning.

Merewether Ocean Baths

• 28 April 2026 to 26 September 2026 - 8am to 4.30pm
• 27 September 2026 to 26 April 2027 - 9am to 5.30pm

Merewether Baths are cleaned every Thursday.

Newcastle Ocean Baths

• 28 April 2026 to 26 September 2026 - 8am to 4.30pm
• 27 September 2026 to 26 April 2027 - 9am to 5.30pm

Newcastle Ocean Baths will be closed for cleaning every Wednesday.
