Class Excursions: Tour the Summerhill Waste Management Centre (Stage 2 and above).
Class Incursions: Classroom talks on recycling, composting, and more (Kindergarten to Year 12).
Waste Audits: Conduct a hands-on waste audit with free equipment loan.
Community Talks and Tours: Arrange for our educators to present to your group or provide a guided tour of Summerhill.

With so many options it’s sometimes hard to know what to do with our waste. We've pulled together a list of common waste and recycling myths and set the record straight.

Food Waste

In Newcastle, around 30% of the waste (by weight) in our red lid bins every week is food waste. Find out more about reducing or recycling your food waste; and council’s future plans for an organics processing facility.
