City of Newcastle's role in an emergency
City of Newcastle works with other key services and agencies to make sure we have effective emergency management measures in place.
The Emergency Management Plan (EMPLAN) (PDF) details arrangements for our response to emergencies. The Plan sets out the roles and responsibilities of agencies such as the NSW Police, SES and Fire Brigade in controlling and managing emergency situations.
The Plan was developed by the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC), which includes representatives of City of Newcastle, the emergency services and supporting agencies.
