Did you know all native species are protected by law in NSW?
If you find an injured or distressed native animal please contact the Hunter Wildlife - Native Animal Trust Fund 24 hour emergency hotline on 0418 628 483. City of Newcastle doesn't investigate or collect native animals or wildlife.
Where to get help with wildlife issues:
- The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage has a list of native wildlife and protected species. They also have advice on what can be done in cases where a native animal is causing damage to your property.
- Hunter Local Land Services provide advice and assistance in eradicating pest species including wild dogs, rabbits and foxes (european red). They also develop and implement initiatives to manage pests.
