Memorial Walk features on stamp sheetlet

Newcastle's Anzac Memorial Walk is fast becoming a tourist attraction and now Australia Post will feature the clifftop walkway in a stamp sheetlet linked to the Centenary of Anzac.
A photograph of the silhouetted diggers lining the walk -- adjacent to the Bathers Way coastal pathway-- will appear on a minisheet of four Australia Post stamps.
The stamp included in the minisheet is one of an issue of five commemorating War Memorials.
It shows a female servicewoman and the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
Newcastle City Councillor Emma White, the partner of an ex-service person and a keen photographer whose own work has been featured by Australia Post, said the Anzac Memorial Walk fits well in the Century of Service series.
"This year is the final year of the Centenary of Anzac commemorations, and I am delighted Australia Post has decided to include the Memorial Walk among the memorabilia," she said.
"Novocastrians have a proud history of recognising those who have served their country and I am delighted the Memorial Walk will be honoured this way because it represents the best of the city's past and future."
The stamps will be sold at the Newcastle Stamp and Coin Expo at the Showground next week and via mail order.
"The market for this minisheet is pretty much exclusively stamp collectors, but of course anyone who attends the Show can buy one," an Australia Post spokesperson said.
"We'll be printing several thousand and each will sell for the value of the stamps, which is $4."
The stamp is the final issue in the series A Century of Service commemorating the centenary of World War One.
The 2018 Newcastle Stamp and Coin Expo will be held at the Newcastle Showground Exhibition Centre, Broadmeadow, from Friday 25 May to Sunday 27 May 2018.
