Statement re Dixon Park Beach incident
11 Jan 2018
About 10.30am on Thursday 11 January, lifeguards at Dixon Park Beach responded to a swimmer in distress between the flags, close to shore.
It is believed the man may have suffered a medical episode. He was swimming in calm conditions when he lost consciousness.
The lifeguards rushed to the man's aid and immediately rendered first aid with the assistance of an off-duty nurse and paramedic.
NSW Ambulance Service paramedics arrived shortly after and the man was transported to hospital.
We would like to thank our lifeguards and passers-by for their quick response to the incident.
