George Street, Mayfield - Stormwater and Road Upgrades

We're investing in essential upgrades along George Street Mayfield to ensure a reliable and safer road and stormwater network for everyone.

What does the project involve?

The upgrades include stormwater improvements, new kerb and gutter, a resurfaced road area, new footpaths, pram ramps, and landscaping to improve overall accessibility, safety, and amenity for pedestrians and road users.

The construction of new stormwater drainage including new pipeline and stormwater pits and road reconstruction at the intersection of George Street/Smith Street and George Street/Kitchener Parade, will reduce localised flooding during wet weather events.

Project details:

Construction is taking place between 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday
The works commenced in March 2025 and are anticipated to be in place for a period of approximately 16-22 weeks (subject to favourable weather)
There will be some temporary traffic diversions while these upgrades are being completed, impacting residents and general motorists who use George Street, including buses
Local business and resident access will always remain available unless otherwise communicated directly
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times
Garbage bin collections will not be impacted.
