Did you know there is a bridge under Hunter Street in Newcastle West? You might drive over it every day and not realise.
The Cottage Creek bridge is actually over 120 years old, and plays an important role in both flood management and traffic movement in and out of the CBD.
We have been inspecting and assessing the condition of the bridge on a regular basis as part of our Asset Maintenance Program. At each inspection we gather information on the condition of the structure – both above and below, as well as the approaches to the bridge.
We are currently looking at options for the replacement of the bridge, so we can deliver a solution that is fit for purpose moving into the future in this busy section of Hunter Street.
