Woodford Street, Minmi - Road infrastructure improvements
This project will deliver 125 metres of new infrastructure along the eastern side of Minmi Road (north from No. 31) and will provide essential infrastructure that will benefit pedestrians, cyclists, and future users of the Richmond Vale Rail Trail.
The works will include:
- New kerb and gutter
- Road shoulder
- A parking lane
- An off-road shared pedestrian path.
We are looking at the western side of Woodford Street for a potential future project with kerb, gutter, drainage, and sealed shoulders. This will be subject to funding.
This project aims to:
- Provide parking and access to a proposed trailhead forming part of the Richmond Vale Rail Trail
- Improve infrastructure to provide safe access for pedestrians and cyclists who will use the trail for recreation
- Extend the existing off-road cycleway to meet the new proposed trail head
- Construct new drainage, kerb and gutter, and a sealed road shoulder to provide parking for rail trail users
- Improve pedestrian and vehicular safety by providing appropriate lighting levels, sight lines, and barrier fencing.
This project will provide several benefits for the community, including:
- Enhanced safety for pedestrians and cyclists using Minmi Road and accessing the Richmond Vale Rail Trail
- Improved access to the proposed Richmond Vale Rail Trail for recreational users
- The provision of dedicated parking for cyclists and other users of the rail trail
- A more liveable, safe, active, and linked movement network across the city.
Funding and timeline
This project is 100% Federal funded through the Local Road and Community Infrastructure Phase 4 program.
We are planning to commence work from May 2025.
