In accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and/or City of Newcastle's (CN) Community Participation Plan the below proposed development applications fall into one or more of the following categories and therefore are notified for community awareness.

  • Designated development;
  • Nominated integrated development;
  • Threatened species development;
  • Class 1 aquaculture development;
  • Potentially hazardous or potentially offensive development; or
  • Demolition in Heritage Conservation Area.

City of Newcastle gives public notice of a licensed event to be conducted at Camp Shortland and surrounds.

Notice of Public Exhibition of the Draft Heritage Places Plan of Management - Gregson Park Hamilton 2021

City of Newcastle gives public notice of the exhibition of the draft Heritage Places Plan of Management - Gregson Park Hamilton 2021.

The Plan of Management is required under Section 36 of the Local Government Act 1993. The Plan of Management provides direction as to the use and management of the reserve.

The Draft Plan is on public exhibition for a period of 42 days. Written submissions will be received until 4pm on Wednesday 6 October 2021. Please address submissions to the CEO, The City of Newcastle, PO Box 489, Newcastle, NSW, 2300 or complete the online submission form on the project's Have Your Say page.

Public Hearing

As required under Section 40A of the Local Government Act 1993, a public hearing will be held in regards to the re-categorisation of the land.

The public hearing will be held online (due to COVID-19 restrictions) on Thursday 16 September 2021, 6pm – 7.30pm.

Lease of Dixon Park Kiosk

In accordance with Section 47 of the Local Government Act 1993, Newcastle City Council is proposing to grant a lease over part of Council-owned Community Land at 15b Ocean St, Merewether (Lot 260, Deposited Plan 1268755), otherwise known as Dixon Park Kiosk.

The proposed lease of Dixon Park Kiosk to Sunnyboy Kiosk Pty Ltd for five (5) years with a further five (5) year option is for the purpose of providing refreshment products including take-away food and beverages.
