Environment and protection projects
Newcastle is unique with significant beaches and natural open space on the doorstep of the city.
Protecting the coast and estuary environments, managing risks and ensuring public safety along Newcastle's coast is part of the overall Coastal Revitalisation program so we can continue to enjoy the benefits of living, working and playing along the coast and estuary.
A range of environmental and coastal protection projects have been completed. These include:
- Stockton Surf Life Savings Club Seawall Rehabilitation
- Stockton beach accessway renewal – Stone Street Stockton and revegetation projects
- Coastal Headland Themeda Grassland rehabilitation
- Newcastle South Coastal cliffline grooming / rock scaling.
Further environmental and protection works will be undertaken in conjunction with the development of a Coastal Management Plan and other infrastructure projects along Newcastle's coast.
